Professional planners render your Curaçao wedding stress-free
Stress, like luggage, should be checked upon departure. Entrust your wedding to planning professionals like Special Events Curaçao (info@specialevents-curacao.com, specialevents-curacao.com) or Ban Kasa (info@bankasa.com, bankasa.com).
Temper southern Caribbean heat with cool sea breezes by staying close to shore. Barefoot brides, dreaming of vows recited at sunset in sparkly Caribbean settings, need look no further than Cas Abao Beach, a white-sand cove cradled between rocky cliffs.
Not all beach weddings are casual. For drama, consider the manicured-grounds of luxurious Kurá Hulanda Lodge, the only resort on the unspoiled western tip of Curaçao. Host a reception on the palm-lined stone terrace. Steel drums and rolling waves provide an excellent soundtrack.
At chic Avila Beach Hotel, once the governor's private residence, "classy beach wedding" is no oxymoron. Plan the ceremony at an 1812 seaside landmark, the Octagon. Afterwards, retreat to the Belle Alliance suite, preferred accommodation of Queen Beatrix, with a private beach.
For an adventurous wedding, book the sleek, 120-foot pirate ship Insulinde, which accommodates 75.
Jewish couples could not find a venue more perfect than Mikve Israel Emanuel, the Western Hemisphere's oldest synagogue. Floors are covered in sand, a tribute to Jewish victims of the Spanish Inquisition, many of whom fled to Curaçao. They used such sand to muffle footsteps so they could worship in secret.
Legal requirements. Six months before your target date, send a written request for marriage, signed by both partners, giving two possible dates.
