 Less than three hours from Miami and 44 miles from Venezuela, Curaçao presents a good opportunity for tourism investment. International hotel chains are opening new properties and older resorts are upgrading. In 2009, they added 988 new guest rooms for a combined investment of $230 million. Five more established hotels spent $26 million in renovations and expansion. The five-star Hyatt Regency Resort, the Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino and the Kontiki Hotel are attracting new tourism markets and investors from North America, South America and Europe.
West of Willemstad, Blue Bay Village, part of Blue Bay Golf & Beach Resort, offers condo, villa and retirement living with golf, beach and marina amenities. The property also sells custom-home building sites on the golf course and sea. Villas for rent and sale feature an open kitchen with bar, living room and veranda, three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, cable and high-speed Internet.
The 18-hole Blue Bay Golf Course — the best on the island — plays along the bay with one of the Caribbean’s most dramatic and challenging layouts. Waves crash next to fairways, and trade winds bedevil drives and chip shots. Pelicans soar overhead and flamingos graze on the salt lake.
The resort and village give easy access to picturesque Curaçao beaches, with swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing and popular offshore dive sites. DiveVersity offers PADI-certified dive courses for adults and children ages 10 and up. Diving tours explore fascinating coral reefs, walls and gardens.

 If you prefer to be in the heart of historic Willemstad, choose the five-star Hotel Kurá Hulanda Spa & Casino, an 80-room boutique resort set in an eight-block restored Dutch village. Rooms occupy 17th- and 18th-century buildings on cobblestone streets. The village includes shops, galleries, restaurants, public art and the Kurá Hulanda Museum, which chronicles the history of slave trading here and celebrates the groups that created this island’s diverse culture.
Securing just the right vacation spot can be hassle-free, as real estate and investment brokers lead you through the financial and legal requirements.
