Heineken Regatta

The third annual Heineken Regatta Curacao is scheduled for November 12 - 14, 2010.

Willemstad celebrated the first Heineken Regatta Curaçao just one year after a team of sailing enthusiasts hatched the bright idea. Right in the heart of the historic city, it had to be good, and was it ever! The November 2008 event launched not only the sailing season but also a new tradition.

In 2010, the third edition of this grand international event takes place with even more fun, entertainment and action. The Dutch brand Heineken, which needs no introduction among sailing circles, signed on to assure 10 years of regattas. Patterned after the Sint Maarten Heineken Regatta, with 30 years of experience, the Curaçao organizers adopted the slogan "real different" to help create their own identity.

Local sailing experts, assisted by an international judge, take care of the sailing part, and anything that floats can participate. The Curaçao Sailing Festival Foundation carries out the fun-and-games part, arranging performances by famous singers and bands and lots of other activities around St. Anna Bay. The iconic Handelskade — face of the local UNESCO World Heritage Site — makes a magnificent backdrop, guaranteed to stand out from any regatta in the region. (heinekenregattacuracao.com)
